What can we eat for our health within planetary boundaries? An information sheet.

Planetary Health focuses on the links between human activities that alter the environment and their consequences on the health of living organisms and ecosystems. Its goal is to develop solutions for a fair, sustainable and healthy world. Aware of the urgent need for action and the necessary transformation of healthcare practices, the XXX created a group dedicated to planetary health in XXX. The group, composed of around twenty general practitioners, is working on the creation of a planetary health toolkit for use by general practitioners. It is within this framework that the group is working to develop tools to support doctors in prescribing dietary advice tailored to the challenges of planetary health.Based on the latest scientific research in global health, a summary was compiled to extract the most relevant data. Practical tools were then created for and by general practitioners. These tools, which incorporate prevention and co-benefits, can then be distributed to other doctors and passed on to patients. A poster for the waiting room and a practical information sheet have been produced and will be presented.Combating food myths and beliefs to raise awareness of the planetary health vision by providing general practitioners with a practical tool to facilitate dietary advice. It helps to limit the burden of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease while preserving global resources, through the prism of co-benefits.The growing interest of general practitioners in issues related to planetary health, combined with the climate emergency, highlights the need to provide support and disseminate information.Planetary health accompanies the transformation of general practice with a more global vision. It contributes to patient well-being and empowerment, and to the consistency of practice with global issues. Dietary advice plays an important role in planetary health, given its impact on health and the environment.The dietary advice given to patients is a relevant and powerful gateway to integrating planetary health into the daily practice of general medicine, thereby enabling a form of medicine that addresses all the issues that concern it.
