Hepatitis virus infection is one of the most common liver infections in the world. There were about thirteen thousands people died of chronic liver disease or hepatocellular cancer per year in Taiwan annually. Although the clinical impact of chronic hepatitis has been emphasized, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) is getting more and more concerns.The aim of this study was to assess HRQoL in patients with chronic HCV infection by WHOQOL-BREF and EQ-5D, Visual analog scale (VAS) to investigate the difference before and after direct acting antiviral treatmentThis research enrolled 61 adult patients who had HCV hepatitis and receive direct acting antiviral treatment in the hepatic clinic. They were investigated by interview to collect  socio demographic data  And received WHOQOL-BREF structured questionnaire and EQ-5D & Visual analog scale(VAS) survey before antiviral treatment, and one month after the end of treatment. Informed consent were obtained before starting the face-to-face interview. Clinical characteristics were collect by chart review. The Data was entered into SPSS for Windows Version 17 for analysis and all statistical tests were conducted at the 5% level of significance.There were 61 HCV hepatitis cases received investigation. 23 males and 38females, their mean age were 54.6±9.3. The mean EQ5D score at baseline is 14.4±0.9, visual scale was 72.9±13.3, WHOQoL self satisfication was 95.7±12.5. ; and mean EQ5D was 13.6±2.8 , visual scale was 81.7±8.9, WHOQoL self satification was 96.8±8.4 at 6 weeks after treatment. By paired- t test analysis, the visual scale of EQ5D showed significant improvement after treatment (P=0.002)..There are studies shown that the impairment in HRQoL for individuals with hepatitis, HRQOL may worsen due to the progression of viral hepatitis and treatment with interferon and Ribavirin. However, this studie was designed to  evaluated the HRQoL of HCV patients under direct acting antivirlal tretment, and we found the VAS improvement after 12 weeks treatment.although no obvious improvement by WHOOoL-BREF survey..Antiviral treatment benefits the HRQoL of patients with chronic hepatitis C.In view of the small sample size , we will further recruit more cases to prove it .
