A process of defining the Core Values of General Practice/Family Medicine (GP/FM) has been going on for a few years. It started in some European countries, later on at a WONCA Europe level and now on a WONCA World level. The project now enters its second phase which will integrate the core values into training of the discipline of GP/FM. The authors of this workshop have been and are still part of this global project.Our values and the principles of GP/FM are the cornerstones of our discipline. Teaching of these values are essential for medical students, for doctors in training for GP/FM and the values should also be an integrated part of professional development for family doctors. We will explore how well values and principles are integrated in teaching at all 3 levels across Europe. Practices and standards wary across European countries due to different contexts (local needs, public expectations and demands versus available resources), but still the cornerstones are part of the same foundation. Exchanging teaching and training methods of these core values in different settings will inspire participants in implementing new methods in their own settings.Teaching methods: Short lecture, small group discussion and plenary discussion. Workshop schedule: Introduction with an overview of WONCA Core Values project (10 minutes) Group discussion which aims to share experiences and strategies for change Plenary wrap-up with key messages and proposals for the next steps.Participants will get a broader knowledge about the WONCA Core Values project – and how to implement the values and principles of our discipline into medical teaching and training.Defining the core values of GP/FM was first step – second step is to secure teaching and training of these defined values of our discipline.
