Alcohol consumption among older adults has increased over recent decades. In parallel, medication use also rises as the population ages. Interactions between alcohol and medications may interfere with drug efficacy and increase the risk of adverse effects. Moreover, biological sex differences exist in both alcohol and drug metabolism, which may influence clinical outcomes.
