Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are extensively prescribed due to the widespread diagnosis of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). However, common overutilisation raises concerns about inappropriate prescribing; prompting interest in holistic management and deprescription strategies. This study aimed to quantify UK healthcare professionals’ (HCPs) and patients’ preferences in GORD management, and to identify attributes perceived as influencing quality of care.

Antimicrobial resistance has been identified as one of the ten greatest threats to global public health. Consequently, governments around the world have developed guidance around antimicrobial stewardship. As part of this, healthcare professionals are urged to perform audits that inform prescribing practices and improve patient care. This work was carried out in response to this call to action. First, to evaluate the prescribing practices of five doctors at XXX against the XXX's guidelines on Management of Acute Coughs and Sore Throats. Second, to identify areas of improvement. Third, to propose recommendations for the betterment of patient care at XXX.

Prescriptions for levothyroxine (LTX) are increasing worldwide, although the number of cases of overt hypothyroidism as the primary indication has not risen (Khandelwal&Tandon 2012). Based on current knowledge, subclinical hypothyroidism (SH) does not require drug treatment. The German guideline for general practitioners (GPs) states that LTX withdrawal can be considered in cases of SH. No structured LTX deprescribing strategy has yet been established in primary care. What are the barriers and enablers for deprescribing LTX in general practice?

Ensuring medication safety in elderly patients with multimorbidity requires clear communication and consistent medication reviews, especially when using high-risk drugs such as methotrexate. Methotrexate toxicity is well described, presenting with acute kidney injury, myelosuppression, hepatotoxicity, mucositis and multiorgan failure. Renal impairment, caused by dehydration, comorbidities or chronic NSAID use, reduces drug clearance and increases toxicity risk. Medication reconciliation includes ensuring an accurate medication list and confirming any changes in prescription, dose or formulation, thereby reducing errors.
