Mentoring programme of the College of GPs of XXX  initiated by the Faculty of Teachers of CGPSL in 2012. In 2022 Annual Academic Sessions the College Oration was based on the Mentoring Programme . The CGPSL mentor pool consists of 67 well trained mentors who have undergone the “Mentorship Training Programme”, which mainly consists of mentoring workshops  held annually to update their knowledge. Additionally the mentors engage in several assessments related to the MCGP course and some are also members of the MCGP Board of Study and of the examiner pool of the MCGP programme. The Mentoring Programme of the College consists of the following: 1. General Practice mentoring 2. MCGP Programme mentoring 3. Membership mentoring The MCGP programme is one of the unique professional post graduate courses in XXX where the facility of a mentor is offered to a trainee. It is a PG course for the practicing GPs and  recognized by XXX Medical Council. MCGP mentoring helps the MCGP trainee to follow the course in a focused and organized manner and guides them through the two year course and afterwards . The MCGP mentor plays a major role in guiding the trainee in preparing the Assessment Portfolio, which is an important component of the MCGP Programme. The General Practice mentoring is offered to any doctor wanting to set up a practice, on request, by CGPSL to ensure quality of patient care by a young doctor at the inception of his practice. The membership mentoring is offered to those who have applied for CGPSL membership and obtained approval by the council. They undergo a mentoring programme for one month under a senior mentor before obtaining the  membership of the College. The CGPSL Mentoring Committee was invited as advisors to launch the Academic Mentoring Network programme for all the other Medical Professional bodies in 2021.Categorisation and evaluation of the Mentoring ProgrammeIt is an ongoing programme.Value of MentoringThe benefit of having a Mentoring programme in a Family Medicine PG   Education ProgrammeConcept of Mentoring is an essential component in any PG Training Programme
