The Dutch College of GPs (NHG) has been developing accredited e-learnings since 2007, based on NHG guidelines, to support implementation in daily practice. These e-learnings were originally designed for desktops/laptops and take up to two hours to complete. A 2022 survey among users indicated a need for shorter, mobile/tablet-friendly e-learnings, especially among younger GPs.To develop shorter e-learnings suitable for all devices. In 2023, NHG launched a pilot to develop short e-learnings lasting no more than 30 minutes and suitable for all devices, including smartphones.During development, we found these modules are most suitable for small, straightforward topics. Based on this insight, we created 10 e-learnings on subjects such as measles, scabies, head injury, herpes zoster, emergency care, and psoriasis. User experiences were evaluated through an online questionnaire.Evaluation occurred on two levels: – Content and process: We assessed feasibility and topic suitability during development. – User experience: Initial feedback from users was highly positive, particularly regarding the convenience of mobile access.Further quantitative evaluation—such as comparing usage rates of short versus traditional e-learnings—is planned. We are interested in the opinion from our colleagues abroad. We are happy to share that developing concise, mobile-friendly e-learnings for GPs proved both feasible and valuable. By enabling learning on any device, we act for more liberty in professional development, ensuring equality of access for all practitioners regardless of location or schedule. Building on these first experiences, we will continue to expand and evaluate this format and invite international colleagues to join us in creating accessible, high-quality education for all.
