Healthcare systems must be learning-oriented, resilient, efficient, and collaborative. In this context, shared decision-making (SDM) is a cornerstone for relevant, equitable, sustainable care. SDM fosters balanced dialogue between patients and professionals, ensuring informed choices aligned with patients’ values. Despite proven benefits for outcomes, experience, team well-being, and equity, its implementation remains uneven. This workshop offers a space to share practical strategies and tools including decision aids to make SDM actionable.By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1. Explain the context in which shared decision-making (SDM) is situated in 2024. 2. Describe the process and key steps of coconstructing decision aids for population-based screening programs. 3. Present some of these codeveloped decision aids. 4. Apply them in potential scenarios.Teaching methods Interactive strategies, including expectation mapping, small-group discussions, table-based reflections, and plenary exchanges: Participants will engage in practical exercises and collaborative analysis to reinforce learning. Workshop schedule (60 minutes) 1. Opening (5 min): Welcome participants, introduce facilitators. 2. Presentation of objectives (2 min): Share learning goals and expected outcomes. 3. Reflective activity (3 min): Quick discussion or poll on participants’ perceptions of SDM. 4. SDM (5 min): Explain the concept, benefits, challenges, and relevance in 2024. 5. SDM Steps (8 min): Present the key lessons, process and stages of co constructing decision aids for population-based screening. 6. Decision Aids Overview in the context of population-based screening (7 min): Highlight decision aids that were co constructed used in population-based screening and MSSS deployment. 7. Case Practice (25 min): Group activity to apply the afore-mentioned decision aids. 8. Closing (3 min): Summarize key takeaways, thank participants, and share resources.This workshop will introduce or strengthen participants’ knowledge, ability and toolkit to apply decision aids for more informed, equitable, humanist and liberate care decisions in the context of population-based screening.Through this workshop, we aim to strengthen participants’ ability and toolkit to apply SDM and decision aids effectively in their practice for population-based screening. Participants will leave with actionable strategies and resources to promote informed, value-based care decisions.
