Amlodipine is one of the dihydropyridine commonly used to treat hypertension. We present case of a young woman who  noticed gum hypertrophy 2 months after starting the amlodipineObservation made. Pt was seen by Dentist and agreed the amlodipine most likely culprit Prior to medication use , she had regular check up with dentist and her gums were normal She took no other medications except amlodipine which was started after she was diagnosed with hypertension  She had no history of gum bleeding. She had regular diet consisting of fruits , vegetables and proteins including fishGum hypertrophy from dihydropyridine  amlodipine is rare but it's possible this may be due to under reportingAdvise patients before starting and increasing to maximum dose that gum hypertrophy is a rare possibility which may not resolve after discontinuing the medicationPrecise mechanism for this adverse effect  of gum hypertrophy due to amlodipine remains elusive. However,  there exist complex interplay between amlodipine, oxidative stress,inflammatory responses and tissue remodeling process within gingival tissues our patients gum hypertrophy did not resolve after discontinuation of amlodipineAmlodipine common calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension can cause gum hypertrophy which patients need to be made aware of before starting the medication and needs to have their gum examined regularly
