In Algeria, general practice extends beyond its traditional clinical scope to engage with the judicial domain. Owing to their close relationship with patients and communities, general practitioners provide distinctive credibility and relevance in medico-legal expertise.This work aims to present and critically analyze nineteen years of professional experience in judicial expertise, highlighting the specific challenges encountered, the contributions made, and the strategic role of general practitioners within both the healthcare and judicial systems.A retrospective and descriptive approach was employed, based on the systematic review of cases handled and the classification of disputes across civil and criminal contexts.- A broad spectrum of cases was addressed, encompassing civil and criminal litigation.  – Ongoing professional development in medical law and expert methodology proved indispensable.  – The general practitioner emerged as a trusted intermediary, combining scientific rigor with social responsibility.General practice can play a pivotal role in judicial expertise. This experience underscores the importance of integrating medico-legal expertise into the training of general practitioners and of fostering stronger dialogue between medicine and justice, both in Algeria and on the international stage.
