Enhancing Primary Care research through AI tools: from literature to publication update

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly evolved into an essential component of contemporary medical research, offering increasingly robust capabilities to support evidence retrieval, synthesis, analysis, and scientific communication. Primary care professionals—often constrained by limited time and research support—stand to benefit substantially from AI-driven tools that streamline key stages of the research workflow.Demonstrate how current-generation AI tools can support literature searching, critical appraisal, statistical reasoning, and scientific writing. Compare functionalities, strengths, and limitations of updated platforms such as GPT-5, Elicit, ResearchRabbit and SciSpace and others Equip participants with practical skills to incorporate AI into their research activities ethically, efficiently, and transparentlyMethodology: This workshop will follow a live, step-by-step demonstration of an entire research workflow—from formulating a research question to generating a draft manuscript section—using updated AI tools. Participants will interact with real-time examples including: 1) Optimized literature search using multi-engine AI platforms. 2) Automated synthesis and structured evidence mapping. 3) AI-supported interpretation of statistical outputs (“statistical copiloting”). 4) Assistance in drafting abstracts, methods sections, and reviewer responses. Time will be allocated for guided hands-on exercises, small-group reflection, and discussion on responsible AI use, including bias mitigation and best practices for transparency Workshop schedule Introduction and overview (10 min) Live demonstration of tools across the research workflow (25 min) Hands-on practical exercises in small groups (15 min) Ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in research (5 min) Group discussion and Q&A (5 min)Participants will leave with the ability to critically evaluate and effectively integrate AI tools into their own research process.
