According to literature data patients with type 2 diabetes have 20% higher risk to develop leukemiaCase presentation A 70 years old male patient who is monitoring for type 2 diabetes with micro and macrovascular complications since 2016 presented lymphomonocitosis in 02.2024 In 07.2024 the patient was diagnosed with chronic lymphocitic leukemia The patient asociates kidney cronic disease , hepatites with virus C treatet with telaprevir, hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, right nephrectomy for hydronephrosisTo think about that diabetes mellitus could be a risk factor for leukemia and chek this  in literatureWe always should take in consideration the comorbitities of our patients ( diagnose, treat them, reffer to other specialist)Discussion: The question related to this patient was is diabetes mellitus a risk factor for leukemia or was this association a coincidence Some literature data discuss about a higher risk for leukemia and other blood cancer( mieloma, non hodgkin lymphoma ) in patients with diabetes. There were presented as possible mechanism an increase of glucose uptake in cancer cells in pacients with hyperglycemia but also chronic inflamation, insulin resistance which induce cancer cell growth and proliferation. Other meta-analysis did not found a statistically significant ralationship It is also impotant the options for treatment in these patientsThis presenetation discuses about a possible association between leukemia and diabetes mellitus. We shoudn/t focus only to keep the sugar blood in normal range but we should see the patient with diabetes and comorbidities
