The prevelence of dementia is increasing in western societies and it is associated with a high disease burden.  The disclosure of a dementia diagnosis during a clinical counsultation  brings with it a great deal of discomfort and anxiety for patients, their loved ones, and also for primary care (PC) physicians, who often feel ill-equipped to address such a sensitive subject. Rigorous communication approaches have been developed to lessen the devastating impact of delivering bad news and ensure that the clinical consultation proceeds smoothly.
