Balint Group workshop: a humanistic approach of the patient and an experience of equity and fraternity
Philippe GUILLOU
In a primary care setting where freedom, fairness, and humanism are central, the Balint group offers a unique space to explore the relational dynamics between caregivers and patients. By promoting active listening, collective reflection, and the sharing of experiences, this workshop enables participants to challenge biases, inequalities in access to care, and the ethical implications of daily practice. Through its interactive and multidisciplinary approach, it strengthens professional solidarity and encourages a more empathetic and patient-centred approach to medicine, in line with the fundamental values of primary care.Improve the caregiver-patient relationship Become aware of personal emotions and reactions Develop a better understanding of patient needs Work on difficult or complex cases Strengthen reflection on professional practice Prevent burnout Improve the quality of care Develop communication skills Promote teamwork and collaboration►Objective: Explore caregiver-patient dynamics through emotions, representations, and interactions—understanding, not solving. ►Premises: Caregivers are therapeutic tools.
