General practitioners often encounter relational problems with patients. Both sometimes come out of a consultation feeling frustrated, upset or annoyed. This affects the quality of care for the patients and the well-being of the doctor.The aim of a Balint group is to enhance empathy, to get a better understanding of the doctor patient relationship and to acknowledge the suffering of both the patient and the doctor.The workshop will offer a traditional Balint Group of 6–12 participants working on a case presentation under the supervision of 1-2 experienced leaders. The workshop can accept up to 30 participants using the fishbowl technique, with an outer circle of colleagues observing the small group and sharing their points of view. Participants do not need any previous knowledge. Workshop schedule: Introduction and explanation of the method: 10 minutes Presentation of a case and group work: 45 minutes Conclusion: 5 minutesThe aim of the Workshop is to enhance a respectful, human and ethical clinical practice, to help doctors to get a better understanding of the patients, to improve communication and the relationship with their patients in an atmosphere of non-judgement.The workshop offers the opportunity to get in touch with the Balint method, to connect with interested colleagues and to learn about actual Balint work in Europe
