Ageism has been defined as “the expression of prejudice against older individuals through attitudes and behaviors”. Assessing medical students' attitudes towards elderly is critically important to ensure that elderly receive comprehensive and non-discriminatory care in family medicine practice.The aim of this study is to assess and compare attitudes of medical students towards elderly in Adana, Türkiye.The first, third and sixth year medical students in Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2023-2024 academic year were enrolled. Sociodemographic Data Collection Questionnaire and Kogan's Attitudes Toward Old People Scale (KOPS) were used. Data were analyzed using SPSS package program version 23.0.Of 571 students with a mean age of 21,7±3,1 years, 241 (42,2%) were male, 324 (56,7%) were female. The mean KOPS total score was 98.0±14.3. A significant decrease in KOPS scores was observed as students' ages increased (p<0.001). The KOPS scores of students with no experience about elderly were significantly higher than those with experience (p=0.003).Our KOPS score findings were similar to those found by Özerdoğan et al. (2022), Kavuran and Caner (2021), Turan et al. (2016), Yazıcı et al. (2016), and Adıbelli et al. (2013)  However, scores found by Koca et al. (2020) and Sarı et al. (2019) were higher than ours (more positive attitude) whereas scores reported by Salman et al. (2015) were lower. The discrepancy may be due to sociodemographic and geographical characteristics of the studies (more negative attitude).Our findings indicate that the awareness of family physicians regarding elderly health and discrimination against the elderly needs to be improved starting from basic medical education.
