Burnout affects many healthcare professionals, undermining both quality of care and team well-being. General practitioners play a pivotal role in detecting burnout early and supporting colleagues in distress. This lively interactive workshop will teach you the skills you need and show how to develop effective intervention strategies.By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: – Define the concept of “Burnout.” – Identify early signs of burnout among healthcare professionals and associated risk factors. – Apply and formalize approaches for alerting and supporting colleagues using active listening and empathy. – Share and adapt resources and support systems to their local healthcare organizations.This one-hour interactive workshop is led by at least three facilitators: a GP with deep expertise in identifying and treating burnout and two GPs skilled in pedagogy and facilitating groups The session is structured as follows: – Introduction: Overview of the workshop and facilitators (5 min) – Phase 1: Brief interactive lecture introducing key burnout concepts (10 min) – Phase 2: Participants analyze 2 filmed clinical scenarios to identify burnout symptoms and risk factors, discuss alert strategies, and formalize best practices (20 min) – Phase 3: Participants review 2 filmed scenarios and jointly develop strategies to support professionals in distress, integrating active listening, empathy, and referral to existing resources (20 min) – Conclusion: Key Take-aways (5 min) The workshop blends discussion, case analysis, and joint development of practical solutions, encouraging learning by doing focused on real-world application.Participants will acquire practical skills to detect burnout early, provide empathetic alerts, and mobilize appropriate support. The methods and approaches are directly transferable to local healthcare settings.By promoting interaction, collective reflection, and practical learning, this workshop equips participants with effective tools to reduce the impact of burnout, strengthening collaboration between healthcare professional and solidarity within primary healthcare organizations.
