Wonca Europe and the European Young Family Doctors’ Movement have joined forces to financially support young family physicians from across the WONCA Europe region and bring them closer to the global international community of general practitioners. The truly inspirational power and strength of the WONCA Europe and EYFDM community are based on the diversity of their members. Each member is equally important but there is no equality without equity.

The Fund has been created to equalize opportunities for participating in the WONCA Europe Conference and EYFDM Preconference in Paris. We use the Fund especially to support those for whom finances would be a barrier to attending the conference. We are convinced that participation in the mentioned events can boost the motivation of being a great physician and build a strong network of family doctors across the continent.

Our goal is to strengthen Primary Care globally by reinforcing, inspiring, and connecting its general practitioners.

At least 10 applicants will receive from 500 to 1000 € to attend EYFDM Preconference and WONCA Europe Conference in Paris. 

The refund can cover:

• registration fee for the EYFDM Preconference Paris 2026
• registration fee for the WONCA Europe Conference Paris 2026
• the cost of flight tickets to EYFDM Preconference and WONCA Europe Conference in Paris
• the cost of accommodation during EYFDM Preconference and WONCA Europe Conference in Paris
• one EYFDM social event

Any costs in excess of the bursary allocation will need to be covered by the bursary holder.

The applicants will be informed about results through emails by the 14th of April.

1. The applicant will be asked to describe her/his experience (using 250- 500 words) within one month after attending the event.
2. The applicant will be asked to send proof of incurred costs (e.g.bills, invoices).
3. The applicant has to attend both events: the WONCA Europe Conference and the EYFDM Pre-conference.

The reimbursement will be given up to two months after finalising mentioned above requirements.

The Selection of the Fund recipients will be made by a Jury made up of representatives from EYFDM and WONCA Europe who will evaluate the application forms.

To receive the bursary you must:

• Be a young family physician (a family medicine trainee or up to 5 years after finishing training, valid in September 2026)
• Be a member of a WONCA Europe National Member Organisation of WONCA (valid on the 30th April 2026). You can check it here: https://www.globalfamilydoctor.com/AboutWonca/Membership/Regions.aspx
• Prove your attendance at both the WONCA Europe Conference and the EYFDM Preconference in Paris
• Send a report of your experience within one month after the event
• Not live in France
• Not be a winner of a previous WONCA / EYFDM (previously VdGM) fund or scholarship.

Failure to meet these requirements, including to send a report of her/his experience within one month after the event fails to prove the incurred costs.

Applicants are encouraged to submit original and personalized applications. Submissions that appear overly formulaic or rely heavily on external sources without genuine personal input may receive lower scores.

By applying for the Fund, the applicant agrees to:

• publishing her/his report about the attended events (live and/or virtual) for publicity purposes on the WONCA Europe/ EYFDM social media channels and/or website

The first two consents aim to disseminate the value of participation in the mentioned events and raise awareness of the significance of the Fund. The personal data can be omitted at the request of the candidate.

Providing your personal information is compulsory to prepare the logistics for your attendance at the WONCA Europe Conference 2026 and EYFDM Preconference 2026 in Paris. You may decline to provide your personal data. In this case, however, you will not be able to duly and validly prepare your conference registration and travel and you will lose your entitlement for this Fund. WONCA Europe and OVERCOME, as data processing controllers, collect and use only personal data necessary to allow for the sound management of the bursary, as suggested in this document. Your personal data will not be shared with any third party and will only be kept as long as necessary for the purposes related to the bursary (i.e. audit of relevant budgets). In accordance with the GDPR, you have a right to access, modify, rectify and delete data that you accept to share.

Under certain circumstances, by law you have also the right to:

• define directives concerning the management of your personal information after your death;
• object, in whole or in part, to processing of your personal information;
• request the restriction of processing of your personal information;
• request the portability, where applicable, or your personal information;
