Family Medicine Residency e-Portfolio Competency Evaluation in Korea

Yonchul PARK, Danbi LEE, Miryoung SONG and Yonghwan KIM

Medical education is globally adopting a competency-based curriculum (e.g., EPAs, Milestones). The Korean Academy of Family Medicine (KAFM) has defined four core and 20 detailed competencies. Existing evaluation methods (exams, logbooks) are inadequate for the objective, comprehensive assessment of FM residents, especially due to frequent external rotations. An e-portfolio system is therefore proposed to systematically track and evaluate residents' continuous competency growth.
