Creative health is an approach that recognises the positive impact of creativity and creative activities on our health and wellbeing. These activities span a wide spectrum, including the performing and visual arts, design and craft, literature, culture, and digital or electronic arts. Interest in the role of creativity in supporting both individual and community wellbeing has grown significantly in recent years. Evidence shows that taking part in creative activities can reduce mental distress, strengthen social connections, enhance quality of life, and support personal growth and empowerment. Creative health embodies the spirit of liberté, égalité, fraternité; fostering liberty of self-expression and empowerment. It promotes equality by making creative tools for wellbeing accessible to all, and strengthens solidatrity by building social cohesion and community support through shared creative experiences. The workshop objectives are that participants will: 1. Gain an understanding of the concept of creative health 2. Gain an understanding of how arts and creativity can impact health and wellbeing ourselves and our patients. This workshop will use a variety of teaching methods ● an introductory slide-based presentation by co-authors ● demonstration of creative health in action e.g. GP poetry read-outs ● pair discussions and small group breakouts to discuss creative health opportunities ● group-based creative activities, including photo poetry The first 10-15 minutes involves an introductory slide presentation by the co-authors and a demonstration of creative health in action. Apply the concepts of creative health in their own livesThis workshop aims to equip participants with skills and confidence to apply creative health in their own setting, for themselves, their teams and patients. It will embody the ideals of liberté, égalité, fraternité, offering participants the freedom to express themselves creatively, promotoing equal access to well-being through the arts, and fostering solidarity through collaborative creative activities.
