Physician assistants (PAs) have the potential to support the delivery of comprehensive and high-quality primary care. The project \u201cPhysician Assistants meet Allgemeinmedizin [primary care]\u201d (PAAM) investigates to which extent PAs can contribute to primary care teams and alleviate the workload of general practitioners (GPs). However, their deployment in GPs\u2019 practices remains largely unfamiliar in Germany. To ensure optimal interprofessional collaboration, participating practices are supported throughout the entire 18-month intervention period through structured and regular coaching.
