Effective intervention requires coordination between multiple sectors, including local authorities, police forces, Family Health Units from Primary Care, schools, and the portuguese Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG).To develop, implement, and evaluate an integrated model for the prevention, early detection, and intervention in IPV, fostering synergies.The project is structured around five key pillars: Awareness and Education &#8211; Regular sessions in schools, by focusing on gender equality, emotional literacy, and violence prevention, involving students, teachers, and parents. Early Detection and Referral &#8211; training for Family Health Units professionals, police, and local authority staff, in collaboration with CIG, to identify signs of IPV and activate integrated referral protocols. Community Response &#8211; Establishment of multidisciplinary support offices within the local authority, a local helpline, and direct involvement of CIG in defining intervention strategies. Monitoring and Evaluation: Joint definition of process and outcome indicators with CIG, and regular intersectoral meetings for assessment and adjustment of actions. Promotion of Local Policies: Development of recommendations and public policies, with CIG\u2019s input, to reinforce prevention and protection of victims.Expected Results: &#8211; Increased literacy on IPV and gender equality &#8211; Improved early detection and referral capacity &#8211; Reduction in unreported and recurrent cases &#8211; Strengthened local support network and positive impact on public policiesDiscussion: The project leverages the central position of family doctors by providing targeted training and integrated referral protocols, enabling them to work closely with local authorities, police, schools, and the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG).\u00a0 Multisectoral collaboration, supported by regular intersectoral meetings and shared resources, enhances the capacity of family doctors to address IPV holistically. Despite ongoing challenges\u2014such as time constraints and the need for sustained inter-agency communication\u2014empowering Family Health Units as frontline actors is key to the project\u2019s success and scalability.Family doctors are key to tackling domestic violence \u2014 they know their patients, build trust, and act early.
