Nevertheless, the differentiation of these two entities can be\u00a0challenging\u00a0specially\u00a0when they present as atypical forms.A 46-year-old male with medical history of aortic mechanical valve, hypertension and chronic alcoholic liver disease\u00a0attends General Practitioner\u00a0(GP)\u00a0consultation for itchy skin lesions in the cervical region.\u00a0 After history taking and the explanation of the course of the symptoms, VZV is the suspected\u00a0diagnoses.\u00a0However, the lack of pain and non-metameric distribution of\u00a0the lesions in the right cervical\u00a0region,\u00a0make\u00a0a young\u00a0GP\u00a0doubt.\u00a0Culture\u00a0samples are\u00a0taken\u00a0and antiviral treatment is not prescribed due to several\u00a0days\u00a0evolution, with a symptomatic approach.\u00a0Days after, with a positive result for HSV and after a literature revision, the case is diagnosed as atypical presentation of HSV, a rare but important form of HSV infection.Dermatology is sometimes the big feared and\u00a0forgetted\u00a0subject for the young GP, due to its\u2019 difficulty and the lack of experience.\u00a0A rare form of presentation of a\u00a0common\u00a0dermatological condition is an interesting way of addressing this topic.Most common and diseases that we are most used to\u00a0see\u00a0in our consultations can sometimes be the more challenging.
