Obesity and female infertility : a literature review with focus on XXX

Female obesity is a growing public health concern worldwide, including in XXX , and represents a major contributor to infertility. Its impact on ovulatory function, hormonal balance, and assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes is well established. Given the central role of primary care in early infertility evaluation, lifestyle counselling, and obesity management, synthesizing existing evidence is essential for guiding clinical practice.To synthesize XXX and international evidence on the impact of female obesity on fertility and to identify effective interventions that improve reproductive outcomes.A narrative review was conducted following a structured search strategy. Literature published between 2010 and 2025 was identified through PubMed, Google Scholar, and EM-Consulte. Eligible sources included observational studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and professional society guidelines. Studies focusing on XXX populations were specifically highlighted. Inclusion criteria were adult women with obesity and outcomes related to ovulation, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or ART success. Exclusion criteria included male-factor infertility and studies lacking reproductive outcomes. Data were synthesized narratively according to themes : ovulatory function, PCOS prevalence, and ART outcomes.Across international evidence, obesity is consistently associated with ovulatory disorders, increased prevalence of PCOS, and reduced success rates of ART procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). Lifestyle interventions—particularly moderate weight loss and regular physical activity—improve ovulatory function and pregnancy rates. XXX studies similarly report a high prevalence of obesity among infertile women, frequently associated with PCOS and chronic anovulation.The findings highlight the multifactorial impact of obesity on female fertility and reinforce the need to address both metabolic and reproductive aspects in clinical care. In XXX , where obesity prevalence among women is high, integrating culturally adapted lifestyle interventions into primary care could significantly improve reproductive outcomes.Female obesity remains a significant contributor to infertility. Strengthening multidisciplinary management—including lifestyle-focused primary care interventions—and improving coordination with reproductive specialists are crucial for optimizing fertility outcomes. Future research should evaluate the effectiveness of locally adapted interventions and their impact on long-term ART success.
