Quality Groups help organize a quality initiative within a given region by holding physicians accountable for the appropriateness of their practices and prescriptions. Specifically, these are groups consisting of about ten primary care physicians from the same region, who meet 10 times a year to discuss and analyze their practices based on a topic selected at the regional level (6) or by the group itself (4). Each group is facilitated by a peer who has been trained for this role. These discussions are based on up-to-date scientific data and clinical cases presented by the participants. Changes in practice are measured using indicators made available to participants. Quality Groups have existed for nearly twenty years and have spread to five metropolitan regions: Brittany, Centre-Val de Loire, Hauts-de-France, Normandy, and Pays de la Loire. They are organized under a federation: the French Federation of Quality Groups (FFGQ).

We are
Women and men—primary care physicians dedicated to integrated and continuous care.
Independent general practitioners responsible for our own practices, working at the heart of primary care teams—whether formally organized or not—and serving as key players and advocates for initiatives in our local communities.

Our Values
MG France is the union for primary care physicians. The primary care physician is the guardian and custodian of their patient’s health throughout their care journey. This journey is organized primarily within primary care teams and is coordinated with other healthcare providers in the region.
MG France’s initiatives aim to improve the working conditions of general practitioners, make the profession more attractive, and thereby enhance the care provided to the public.

For the recognition and promotion of the general practitioner—a Sector 1-contracted specialist—who is accessible to all
patients. MG France is the only union that exclusively—and therefore truly—advocates for general practice.

SFMG is an independent, non-union, and non-partisan association that is a member of the College of General Practice. Its work and reflections are conducted collectively through collaborations with medical professionals and experts in the human and social sciences.

The association is committed to advancing research in general practice, developing practical clinical support tools, and promoting continuing medical education. These efforts have also led to the publication of a collection of reference works dedicated specifically to general practice medicine.

Médecins Solidaires is a very simple idea conceived by Dr. Martial Jardel, a general practitioner and co-founder of the association. Since it seems impossible to ask a lot from a few doctors, what if we asked… a little from many! In practice, since 2022, the association has been asking general practitioners to donate one week of their time to take turns working in health centers located in underserved areas. Thanks to this rotation system run by a group of over 1,000 volunteer doctors, 14 villages have already regained sustainable access to healthcare!

The model is turnkey: each week, in each of the 14 health centers, a doctor takes over from the previous one. Their sole mission? To care for patients. In addition to a net salary of 1,000 euros, housing, transportation, and all administrative paperwork are covered by the association. Residents of these areas, who in some cases haven’t seen a doctor in several years, are thus able to receive ongoing medical care provided by the Médecins Solidaires health centers, which become their primary care providers.

The Médecins de Montagne brings together general practitioners working in mountain regions who share specialized expertise in traumatology, emergency medicine, and healthcare in remote environments.

Mountain medicine faces unique challenges related to geographical isolation, seasonal fluctuations in activity, land and housing shortages, and practice constraints, particularly regarding access to technical facilities and paramedical resources.

As a training organization, Médecins de Montagne supports physicians, residents, and early-career practitioners each year through dedicated training programs, conferences, and events. By encouraging the sharing of experiences, the transmission of expertise, and the continuous improvement of professional practices, the association helps ensure the provision of high-quality healthcare in mountain areas and prepares healthcare professionals to meet the current and future challenges of mountain medicine.

They also work in close partnership with scientific societies, educational, social and medico-social organizations, universities, and any other partners—including private-sector organizations and European partners such as the European Reference Networks (ERNs)—that contribute added value to collective action.
Together, these stakeholders co-develop solutions to address the challenges posed by rare diseases**, including patient care, diagnosis, access to treatments, research, education and training, information dissemination, and awareness.

Welcome to the WONCA Europe Conference 2027 in Ljubljana, where we will focus on one of the most pressing challenges in primary care: sustainability.
Across Europe, primary care systems are under increasing pressure from demographic change, workforce shortages, environmental crises, technological disruption, and shifting societal expectations.
In this context, sustainability is not optional — it is essential for ensuring resilient, equitable, and high-quality health systems for the future.
The scientific programme is structured around a clear systems-thinking framework:
from planetary health and the end of business as usual, through system-level reform in policy and financing, to the future of the healthcare workforce, the role of human-centred technology and artificial intelligence, and the evolution of the social contract between healthcare professionals and society.
This conference will bring together research, practice, education, and policy to explore sustainable pathways for primary care in Europe. We invite you to contribute your best work and engage in meaningful scientific dialogue that will shape the future of our discipline.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ljubljana in 2027.
